Products and Services

With growing concerns about transmission and distribution reliability and market price volatility, on-site generation is becoming more attractive as a strategy for reducing overall energy costs. Whether you have reliability, availability or power quality concerns; want to reduce your peak energy consumption or produce combined heat and power, Pepco Energy Services can provide a solution.

Experienced in a wide range of leading-edge, on-site generation and cogeneration/combined heat and power (CHP) technologies, the Pepco Energy Services' team can design, construct, finance and even operate and maintain your on-site generation facility. We are familiar with the permitting issues associated with on-site generation including emissions and interconnection; critical price and performance issues of the various technologies; and the costs associated with operations and maintenance of on-site generators.

Emergency Back Up
The proliferation of ever-more-sensitive electronic equipment in business applications and in the home has brought the issues of reliability and power quality to the forefront. The installation of conventional emergency generators can provide partial or total back up for the power requirements of critical loads.

Peak Shaving
These generators can also be dispatched to curtail the electrical load at times of peak energy cost with the savings being shared with the power provider. This option is available currently from Pepco Energy Services in the PJM Interconnection territory.

Cogeneration
CHP applications, recovering heat from the power generation cycle for use in steam or hot water heating systems, represent proven approaches to efficiency improvement. The same energy source (diesel oil or natural gas) is used first to produce electricity and then the waste heat is transformed into thermal energy.
